Mission – The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation will hold a public hearing from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30pm on Thursday, April 20th 2017 at the Recreation Center to discuss the Tribes’ Title VI program and grant. Dinner will be provided.

Parents of students in the Pendleton, Pilot Rock and Athena-Weston school districts are invited to hear an update on the program’s accomplishments and voice concerns and ideas.

The CTUIR Education Department’s Title VI grant from the U.S. Department of Education is designed to support the efforts of local education agencies and Indian tribes in meeting the educational and culturally-related academic needs of American Indian students. Federal funds have been used to place coordinators in the three school districts to work with American Indian students in grades kindergarten through 12.

As part of the grant, CTUIR is holding this hearing to present information about how the grant funds benefit to the students, and to take public comments and suggestion about Title VII.
