MISSION - Kelly J. Sager, currently Attorney/Director of the Office of Child Support Enforcement for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR), has accepted the newly created position of Judicial Assistant/Court Director with Tribal Court, according to Tribal Court Judge Bill Johnson.

This new position is necessitated by the demands of the Court’s expanding responsibilities under the federal Violence Against Women Act and Tribal Law and Order Act, and the Court’s recent designation as an authorized participant with the National Crime Information Center.

Ms. Sager, an attorney with distinguished courtroom and management experience, is a much valued addition to the Court, said Judge Johnson.

“She will enhance the Court’s ongoing mission to provide highly professional and efficient criminal and civil judicial services to Tribal members and the community-at-large and maintain and advance the high standard of administration of justice that the Court has established,” Johnson said...

The CTUIR Office of Child Support Enforcement under Ms. Sager’s leadership was recognized by an independent Tribal Court Assessment as “… a highlight of the court system … considered to be an efficient, fair, and helpful system that runs smoothly.”

The efforts of Ms. Sager and her dedicated staff have provided much needed financial support for the Tribe’s most valuable resource, its children.

Ms. Sager will assume her new role Jan. 1, 2017.
