The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation’s (CTUIR) Election Commission has announced that six Tribal members have submitted petitions to run as a candidate for the open Board of Trustees (BOT) Secretary seat recently vacated due to a recall.

The BOT Secretary serves as one of four officers and is responsible for all board correspondence, issuing of public notices, taking of minutes, recording of official actions and custodian of all board files and records. The six candidates running for the open seat are:

N. Kathryn Brigham

Lawanda Bronson

Jiselle Halfmoon

Roberta Kipp

Leila Spencer

David Wolf, Jr.

The seat was vacated on October 4, 2016 when David Close was recalled from the office.

The special election for BOT Secretary will be held on February 7, 2017. On site voting will take place at the Nixyaawii Governance Center, 46411 Timine Way, Pendleton, Oregon from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Absentee ballots may be requested from the Election Commission by going to www.ctuir.org/election-commission.
