Right To Work Code

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the CTUIR desires to establish its own law governing the workplace, the rights of employees and the obligations of employers within the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and to avoid being bound by the laws of the other sovereigns, such as the federal government.  No employee within the Umatilla Indian Reservation shall be forced to join, or be penalized for not joining, a union or other collective bargaining organization, and should be able to make that choice freely and voluntarily.

Tribal Employment Rights Office Code

The purposes of this Code are:

A. To prevent employment related discrimination against American Indians;

B. To ensure compliance with this Code that is intended to give preference in employment, contracting and sub-contracting, and training to American Indians; and

C. To maximize utilization of Indian workers in all employment opportunities on and near the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

D. To ensure the Indian workforce on the Umatilla Indian Reservation are trained and equipped to enter the workforce and maintain employment of their choosing.

Workers Benefit Code

This Code shall be known and cited as the "Workers Benefit Code" and shall be administered by the Tribal Employee Benefits Committee ("TEBC"), or its successor. The purpose of this Code is to establish the rights and benefits of employees of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation for on-the-job bodily injuries due to accidents or occupational disease as set forth herein.
