FLOOD WARNING – MISSION COMMUNITY

 

Mission, OR - A Flood Warning remains in effect for Tuesday, April 9, 2019 for the Umatilla River near Gibbon and Pendleton.  A Flood Warning is issued when the hazardous weather event is imminent or active.

 

Minor flooding has been observed near Bingham Road and Thorn Hollow and several locations downstream. Drivers should avoid crossing moving water whenever possible.  If you encounter moving water over a roadway and/or shoulder you should turn around and not cross. If crossing is absolutely necessary proceed with great caution as you will not be able to assess surface conditions beneath the water.

Several CTUIR departments are monitoring flooding areas along the Umatilla River and its tributaries. If the flood waters have risen to a level that will flood your residence please contact Tribal Dispatch at (541) 278-0550.

The Umatilla River near Gibbon.

  • Warning until this afternoon.
  • At 4:15 AM Tuesday, the stage was 7.6 feet.
  • Flood stage is currently 7.0 feet.
  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Forecast - the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by late this morning.

 

  The Umatilla River at Pendleton.

  • Warning until this afternoon.
  • At 4:00 AM Tuesday, the stage was 12.4 feet.
  • Flood stage is 12.3 feet.
  • Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
  • Forecast - the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by this morning.
