The CTUIR Planning and Public Works departments are updating the Local Road Safety Plan. We would like your input on locations where transportation safety improvements are needed, and priority improvement types. This plan covers low-cost safety solutions like road paint, signs and powered signals, and small construction projects such as crosswalks or bike lanes. Some of these items were identified in our 20-year Transportation System Plan, which was completed and adopted in April 2023; other types of improvements like signs and paint are simply too small for that plan.

This plan offers the opportunity to apply for small grants, under $1 Million, for road improvements that might include:

  • Sidewalks & crosswalks
  • Bike lanes
  • Roundabouts/traffic circles (neighborhood scale)
  • Reflective signs and markers for nighttime visibility
  • Rail crossing safety improvements
  • Digital signs that tell you your vehicle’s speed

This plan can also recommend educational and other programming efforts, including:

  • Signs and posters with road safety messages
  • Traffic activities for youth to practice road safety skills
  • Road safety audits
  • Model traffic enforcement activities at problem sites, which might include driver stops

Crash Report Viewer

The Crash Report Viewer, linked above, shows all crashes reported in the ODOT database (which includes reports from Tribal Police calls). Crashes are shown in dark red for the year 2022, and become lighter in color as they approach the oldest reported year, 2010. Clicking on a point will show you details, including the year, cause, and road conditions of the crash.
