PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Land Protection Planning Commission (LPPC) of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) will hold the following public hearings:

Conditional Use File #CU-26-001 – Applicant, CTUIR Department of Natural Resources, seeks approval from the Land Protection Planning Commission to conduct a timber harvest on 341 acres of the site referred to as Tátwin Wildlife Area (formerly Rainwater Wildlife Area). The subject property is held in trust for the CTUIR and is identified as trust parcel T5600.  Located outside the external boundary of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Columbia County, Washington, the proposed timber harvest would remove timber through mechanical and hand thinning methods to reduce fire danger and improve forest health. Chapter 3 of the CTUIR Land Development Code (LDC) lists timber harvests of this size as a Conditional Use.  Conditional Use approvals are subject to Chapters 6 and 13 of the LDC.

This hearing has been rescheduled from June 23, 2026.  The hearing will now be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Individuals may attend the meeting in the Walúula and Wanaqit conference rooms at the Nixyáawii Governance Center, virtually, or by phone.  Information on joining the meeting online is available at https://www.ctuir.org.  Participation in the hearing will also be available by phone at 872-242-7793 starting at 9:00 a.m. on the day of the hearing.  The meeting ID will be 399 309 222#.

Staff reports and other materials related to the hearing will be available at least ten days in advance. They will be posted online at the link above or may be requested from the Tribal Planning Office by calling 541-276-3099.
