Public Works Provides Update on Community Wells 1 and 2

With summer here, the Public Works Department encourages customers and the public to use water wisely by limiting outdoor watering in excess and during high-temperature daytime hours. Public Works also encourages users to implement smart irrigation practices by reducing water consumption that helps protect supply and manager water bills.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, an estimated 50% of outdoor water usage is wasted. This is why it’s important to use water wisely indoors and outdoors. Doing so supports conservation efforts and helps ensure that safe, clean and reliable water is available now and for future generations.

This past week, Mission Community Wells 1 and 2 Electrical Panel Transfer Switch failed. Public Works officials expect to have Wells 1 and 2 back online by July 31.

On Tuesday, July 22, during routine maintenance, Public Works pulled Community Well 3 Submersible Pump for replacement due to age and inefficiency. Public Works in the interim is utilizing Community Wells 4, 5 and 6 to provide water distribution throughout the system. At no time during this routine maintenance has the supply, quality, or availability of water in our community system been impacted. Public Works routinely alternates operations of the wells to serve the demand for the water distribution system and to maintain the productivity of each of the wells. We continue to serve the community by meeting all the supply demands with sufficient water sources in our aquifers and storage capacity in our reservoirs.
