Indian Lake (Lake Hiyúumptipin)is operated by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and is located 34 miles southeast of Pendleton, Oregon on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. The lake is 80-acres and surrounded by forests. 

Lake Hiyúumptipin (which translates as "grizzly bear devouring") offers a relaxing atmosphere to camp, picnic, fish, and boat in the Blue Mountains southeast of Pendleton, Oregon. At an elevation of 4,200 feet, the Indian Lake Recreation Area lies near the crest of the Blue Mountains.

Campground Location

From Pendleton, Oregon travel 15 miles South on Highway 395 to Pilot Rock, Oregon. On the south end of Pilot Rock, take East Birch Creek Road for 19 miles to Indian Lake.
