Police Station

The Umatilla Tribal Police Department is a modern, progressive, full service law enforcement agency that began service to the community in 1981. The Department became the second agency in the country to become compliant with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) which is Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. In January, 2012 the Department became state certified under Oregon Senate Bill 412, which recognizes Oregon Tribal police agencies and its officers as Oregon police officers.

The Department is comprised of 20 sworn police officers and 6 communications officers. We provide 24-hour, 7-days a week services to the community. Our Communications Division handles dispatch services to the Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services. All communications officers are trained and certified by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards & Training. Police officers are state certified police officers within the State of Oregon and federally commissioned.
