Election Commission

The Election Commission of the Confederated Tribes is hereby authorized to be established for the purposes of conducting and supervising all Tribal elections, regular or special, in accordance with the mandates of this Code, resolving election disputes as provided in this Code, promulgating such additional regulations as may be necessary from time to time and providing information and education to members of the Confederated Tribes about the Tribal election process.

2025 General Election Calendar

August 05                        General Election Notice-Deadline 90 Days Prior to General Election – Announced continually on KCUW, Posters throughout community, in CUJ, on Tribal Website. (Nomination Petitions will also be available at this time)

August 25                        Nomination Petitions Due- 4pm. Deadline 70 Days Prior to General Election

 

August 25                        Constitutional Amendments Due Deadline 70 Days Prior to General Election. The complete text of the proposed amendment must be delivered to the Election Commission.

September 2                  Withdrawal- Deadline 8 Days after Petitions Due a candidate may withdrawal, must be in writing, signed by candidate and notarized then delivered to the Election Commission.

September 12               Absentee Ballot Request Forms Available- Deadline 50 Days Prior to General Election

 

October 14                       Absentee Ballots Mailed- Deadline 21 Days Prior to General Election

October 20                     Absentee Ballots Request Forms DUE to Election Commission- Deadline 15 Days Prior to General Election

October 31                     Poll Watcher Letters Due- Deadline 3 Days Prior to General Election. Each Candidate is entitled to choose one person as a poll watcher. Notify the Election Commission in writing identifying their poll watcher.

November 4                   General Election - Day 8:00am-8:00pm at Nixyaawii Government Center

November 5                  Document to GC stating elected officials

 

December 3                    Swearing In

December 3                    Removal of Campaign Signs- Deadline 30 Days after General Election
